How realistic is it to believe Siddharta sought enlightenment at 29 if he only had 1 recently-born son?

Wouldn't have a clue but didn't he find the middle ground to enlightenment so he could have both worlds and was well established with the opposite by the time of his teenage years and might got sick of by then.
